Carlota Ciganda secured the decisive point as Europe defeated the United States 15–13 in the 20th Solheim Cup.

Team Europe are Solheim Cup champions once again after producing a powerful final-day performance to defeat the United States 15–13.

The match was tied heading into the final round, but Europe took control in Sunday’s Singles session, earning seven points — their best result in the final session since 2013. The victory sees Europe retain the Cup on home soil and extends their advantage when the event is played in Europe to 6–3–1.

It was also the seventh time the Solheim Cup had been tied entering the final round. On every occasion, the home side has gone on to win or retain the trophy, with the only tied result coming in 2023 in Spain.

Ciganda delivers the winning point

Carlota Ciganda secured the decisive point with a 4&2 victory over Jennifer Kupcho, who had starred for the United States earlier in the week.

The result makes Ciganda just the second player in Solheim Cup history to secure the winning point twice, following Catriona Matthew, who clinched victories for Europe in 2003 and 2013.

Grant leads Europe’s charge

Linn Grant was Europe’s standout performer, winning all four of her matches across the week. Her perfect 4–0–0 record is particularly significant after she went 0–4–0 at the 2024 Solheim Cup.

Grant is the first player in Solheim Cup history to earn at least four points after recording zero points in her most recent appearance.

Captain Anna Nordqvist’s rookie selections also made a major impact. Nastasia Nadaud finished with a 3–1–0 record, while she and Mimi Rhodes became the first rookie pairing in Solheim Cup history to win two matches together.

United States fight to the finish

Alison Lee was exceptional for the United States despite ending the week on the losing side. She went 4–0–0, including two victories over the highly rated European pairing of Charley Hull and Lottie Woad.

Lee also produced the largest comeback victory in recorded Solheim Cup history, overturning a four-hole deficit to defeat Esther Henseleit in Singles. She became the first player in Solheim Cup history to finish 4–0–0 or better for the losing team.

Hull and Woad responded in Sunday’s Singles, winning their respective matches and avoiding the first winless five-session record in Solheim Cup history.
